history of Chattisgarh -

The demand for a separate state was first raised in the 1920s.

On 1 November 2000, India gave birth to a new state called Chhattisgarh which was carved out of Madhya Pradesh.

The President of India gave his assent to the Madhya Pradesh Reorganization Act 2000 on 25 August 2000.

The Government of India later set 1 November 2000 as the day on which the state of Madhya Pradesh would be bifurcated into Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh.

Chhattisgarh is the 10th largest state of the country.

The Chhattisgarh Legislative Assembly has 90 members.

The state sends 11 members to the Lok Sabha and five to the Rajya Sabha.

It is the 9th largest state of India by area.

As of 2020, it has a population of approximately 29.4 million, making it the 17th most populous state in the country.

middle level The state was formed by the division of ten Chhattisgarhi and six Gondi speaking districts in the south-east of the country.

 Its capital city is Raipur.

It is bordered by 7 states – Uttar Pradesh in the North, Madhya Pradesh in the North-West, Maharashtra in the South-West, Jharkhand in the North-East, Odisha in the East and Telangana and Andhra in the South.

At present it consists of 32 districts.

Similar demands arose at regular intervals; However, a well-organized movement was never launched.

Several all-party forums were created and they were usually resolved around petitions, public meetings, seminars, rallies and strikes.

The demand for a separate Chhattisgarh was raised by the Raipur Congress unit in 1924 and was also discussed in the annual session of the Indian Congress in Tripuri.

There was also a discussion on creating a regional Congress organization for Chhattisgarh.

When the State Reorganization Commission was constituted in 1954, the demand for a separate Chhattisgarh was raised, but it was not accepted.

In 1955, the demand for a separate state was raised in the Nagpur Legislative Assembly of the then Madhya Bharat State.

The 1990s saw more activity demanding a new state, such as the formation of a statewide political forum, most notably the Chhattisgarh Rajya Nirman Manch.

Chandulal Chadrakar led the forum, organizing several successful region-wide strikes and rallies under the banner of the Manch, all of which were supported by major political parties, including the Indian National Congress and the Bharatiya Janata Party.

The new National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government re-sent the separate Chhattisgarh Bill for the approval of the Madhya Pradesh Assembly, where it was once again unanimously approved and then introduced in the Lok Sabha.

This bill for a separate Chhattisgarh was passed in the Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha, paving the way for the creation of a separate Chhattisgarh state.

Chhattisgarh is one of the fastest developing states in India.

A resource-rich state, Chhattisgarh provides electricity, coal and steel to the rest of the country.

In 2020, it again won the title of the cleanest state with over 100 urban local bodies, as announced by Housing and Urban Affairs Minister Hardeep Singh Puri after the 'Swachh Survekshan 2020'.
